Residents warned more rising waters to come

Despite the prospect of clearer rains over the coming week, residents of flooded areas are being asked to remain alert amid increased flood advisories. Here’s what the country can expect weather-wise over the coming days.

The Bureau of Meteorology issued a severe flood alert in the Murrumbidgee region Thursday, with potential severe floods overnight at Wagga Wagga continuing on Friday.

While moderate flooding continued down the Tumut River, this was combined with the Burrinjuck Dam spill to produce significant flooding at Gundagai. As a result, the river levels are now higher than during the April floods in 1989.
